10 Facts About The Lagos Countdown You Did Not Know

Lagos Countdown is organised by Lagos State Signage & Advertisement Agency (LASAA) on behalf of Lagos State Government. The event was created to put Lagos at par with other major cities in the world that have established a crossover tradition. Such cities include New York, London, Sydney, Paris, Los Angeles and Dubai. The Lagos countdown started in 2012 at the instance of the Governor of Lagos state, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) with the vision of ensuring Lagos State reaps all the benefits of a well organised crossover tradition.
 Facts
1. The Lagos countdown was conceived on the state governor’s determination to leverage the event for the
positioning of Lagos as a premium destination for business and leisure.

2. The Lagos Countdown is a Lagos state initiative driven by Lagos State Signage and Advertisement 
    Agency (LASAA).

3. It took Lagos state two weeks to prepare for last year’s countdown.

4. This year’s Lagos Countdown celebrations will take place at the Bar beach, Victoria Island; the same   
     venue used last year.

5. Majority of the funds being used to execute the countdown is from the private sector.

6. Nigeria Breweries Plc. is the title sponsor for the second year running.

7. The finale of the countdown will be broadcast live on Channel O to 50 countries in Africa, courtesy      
    Multichoice.

8. There would be free Wi-Fi internet service provided by ICSL for the entire duration of the countdown at t     the bar beach.

9. Over 50 artistes have been slated to perform at this year’s countdown.

10. Over 100,000 people are expected at the bar beach this year during the countdown celebration; a 
      double of what was obtainable last year.
