Four people were injured when a British Airways (BA) aircraft collided into a building at OR Tambo International Airport, Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) confirmed on Monday.
According to ACSA, the aircraft carrying approximately 180 passengers, was taxing on one of the airports taxiways preparing for departure from RWY03L when the incident occurred on Sunday.
The incident happened at around 10:40pm. No injuries were reported on board the plane but four ground-handling employees, who were in the building at the time, experienced minor injuries.
The Boeing 747 - 400, en route to Heathrow Airport in London, damaged one of its wings, resulting in damage to both the aircraft and the building.
The aircraft has since been moved to a remote location and operations have not been disrupted as a result of the incident. The incident will be investigated, said ACSA.
BA has accommodated all passengers at a nearby hotel.
